Norco will host Mass Trappers for this year’s beaver and coyote pelt fleshing workshop, Sunday March 15th, 2026 at Norco (Princeton MA, www.norco.club)   This workshop is very popular every year, held since 2020.

There are several seats open.

If interested in the class, please email Wayne@norco.club . Class fee is  $65. This will cover supplies for the day,  commercial tanning of the fleshed skin, use of trapper skinning tools, and food/beverage throughout the day.   Beavers are provided for each student.  For those who have taken the class in the past, a coyote pelt may be available instead. At the end of the day, each student will have an unfinished fur pelt to be tanned and optionally a beaver tail to be made into leather.  For those doing home tanning or using a commercial tanning kit they buy on their own, class fee will be reduced to $25.   Workshop runs the full day, 8.30-4 .

Follow this link for 2025 workshop pictures:  https://www.norco.club/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/NORCO-Fur-Handling-Class-2025.pdf

Later in the year (fall time frame), the fur pelts will be back from the tannery.    For those wanting to make a garment such as a hat, mitts, etc,  Glacier Fur Company in Maine is a good source of information about fur, how many pelts are needed to make a specific garment and a source of additional pelts/skins.   https://www.glacierwear.com/

For those wanting to hoop their beaver pelt, Norco will provide you a local club member who makes hoops with a steam tube.  (see picture below)

The immediate picture below are the pelts to be sent off to the tannery.  The beaver pelts are stretched and further scraped. The coyote pelt is in the middle of the picture.

Please pass this along to anyone interested. The class is open to anyone, meaning a student participant does not need to be a Norco member.
